The Kent Ridge Technology team identifies several key business processes that are required for the successful management of a port, namely: Assets and Facilities Management, Manpower Management, Vessel Visits Management, Port Operations and Resources Management, Cargo Management, Finance Management, and Custom and Trade Document Management. With this, the team then performs in-depth analyses of each of these business processes, in addition to an analysis of the current Port Community System (PCS), to suggest a set of system requirements and guidelines for the design and implementation of the proposed Port Management Information System (PMIS) that can be implemented by Oceania Port, or any port organisation, to facilitate the successful running and management of a successful port. In short, the proposed PMIS is divided into two parts - an internal system, comprising both a web and a mobile application, which is only used by employees of Port of Merlion Island Authority (PMIA), and an external system which is used by shippers, port and customs authority.
